Luke Carrington, the youngest of the Carrington kids. Growing up with four older siblings it's hard to be seen. Not only is he the youngest, he was born several years later than the rest of them. With a seven year gap between him and the second youngest, he's always been left out from the rest. Teased by all of them, hearing he was never meant to be born, yet here he was, it wasn't exactly a thrill for him to grow up. His mother didn't know she was pregnant until it was "too late". Most parents would never want their kid to feel unwanted, but somehow his parents only found it difficult to have another unexpected kid.
One would think Luke would have such a hard time, and he probably did, but never did he show any signs. He never cried, he never told anyone off, he barely even spoke. The times his family actually did want to show their "love" for him, his way of communicating would be off. He had tendencies to scratch or bite brought him into trouble but he never even understood the reason.
As he grew older he spoke when spoken to. Nothing more, nothing less. He felt he needed to, living up to certain expectations from the people around him and so he opened up a little more. The painful consequences of people not understanding his lack of need to have conversations were not worth it by that time. One could say Luke differ from the rest, and it only became more of a problem as he started high school.
High school was when he learned "masking". Observing the other kids around him slowly understood what people expected from him as a fellow peer. He learned how to hide his lack of guilt when he physically hurt someone-
See moreLuke Carrington's MindLooking inside Luke's mind, it is not certain you will understand the way he is thinking. He is unable to feel guilt for his actions. Quite in reverse, he tends to enjoy the rush. Feel unsafe, feel pain and make other people feel the same way. The lust, and the addiction to take risks, feel danger. Perhaps he is even searching for dangerous things. He lacks the human's moral compass, and the ability to feel empathy for others.
However, Luke is still young, and still developing, growing, but his thoughts move in that direction. The fact, that the parents hadn't done anything to show him his actions were wrong, he had no way to learn some of the actions he might have done, were wrong.
Socially
Luke is not exactly the most popular kid on the playground, since he's getting a little old for that one. But actully he has never been. Already as a 5-year-old, Luke sometimes just threw rocks after other children, tried to bite them, or poked them in an unfriendly way, with pointy sticks. Never even had a reason to any of it, and never felt a need to say sorry for his actions. Therefore he was also taken out of school, and was homeschooled for a couple of years. He just recently went back to public school now.
Of course it does not mean, he is not able to make friends or aquaintances. He is just not the nicest kid you will come across, and he might make you do bad things, if he likes you.
Now you have read all this, he might come across, as a non-verbal kind of character, but as he grow older, he has learned phrases, and remembered what to say to different things. He has even made cards for himself, to remember what some teachers has tried to teach him to say in certain situations.
